Automatic Stimulus Checks this 2025: See If You Qualify for $400 or $1,702 (No Application Needed!)

In 2025, two state-level programs are offering much-needed financial relief to millions of Americans.

These stimulus payments, which require no paperwork or application, aim to support residents facing rising costs due to inflation and high living expenses.

New York will issue $400 checks to eligible taxpayers as part of a broader inflation relief effort.

Meanwhile, Alaska will distribute a $1,702 payment to qualifying residents through its annual Permanent Fund Dividend.

Here is a full breakdown of each program and how recipients can expect to receive their benefits.

New York’s $400 Stimulus Payment

New York State has included a $400 stimulus payment in its 2025 to 2026 budget, funded by a $2 billion initiative.

The program is designed to reduce the financial impact of inflation by returning some of the collected sales tax revenue to residents.

More than 8.2 million New Yorkers are expected to benefit from this payment.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Filing Form IT-201 for the 2023 tax year

  • Earning less than $150,000 as a single filer or head of household

  • Earning less than $300,000 if filing jointly or as a surviving spouse

  • Not being listed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return

There is no application process.

If you qualify, the payment will be mailed automatically to the address on your most recent New York State tax return.

Alaska’s $1,702 Payment through the Permanent Fund Dividend

Alaska residents will receive a $1,702 payment through the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend program.

This annual dividend is not a federal stimulus check but a state-administered benefit funded by Alaska’s oil revenue.

The payment consists of a $1,403.83 base dividend and a $298.17 energy bonus.

To qualify, residents must:

  • Have lived in Alaska for the entire 2024 calendar year

  • Intend to remain in Alaska permanently

  • Not have been outside the state for more than 180 days in the year

  • Not having filed for residency in another state

  • Not have any criminal convictions or unresolved legal issues

Payment dates include:

  • July 17, 2025, for applications marked “Eligible - Unpaid” by July 9

  • August 21, 2025, for applications marked “Eligible - Unpaid” by August 13

These dates apply to both new applicants and those still awaiting payment from earlier years.

What do These Payments Mean for Residents?

The New York and Alaska stimulus programs show how states are using local resources to provide meaningful financial support during a period of economic uncertainty.

Both programs are automatic, meaning eligible residents do not need to submit additional paperwork or complete any forms.

If you live in New York or Alaska, check your recent tax filings and ensure your contact information is up to date.

These payments are not just numbers on a check; they are targeted efforts to help families manage rising costs and improve their financial stability.
